The transition from COVID-19 “shelter in place” and business closure orders to partial and full reopenings is very much a state-by-state story, with some states extending their business closure orders for all but essential businesses, others allowing reopenings of various public facing businesses, with a handful of states having never adopted COVID-19 closure orders.  Common to most states are social distancing and other safety-related requirements for reopened businesses, but the parameters of the reopening orders across states have significant variability.  This site and interactive map track the range of State closure and reopening orders, including links to key orders and other documents, with overviews of the extent to which businesses in particular states may maintain business operations (adjusted for COVID-19 risks), or must reduce operations except for specified minimum activities and remote working, or remain closed for a period of time.
